But thieves take nothing from Scottish cottage
Tuesday, 15 January 2008
Sir Jimmy Savile’s Scottish home was raided last Tuesday.
But the intruders took nothing – because the telly legend, 81, keeps the cottage in Glencoe, rural Scotland empty of luxuries.
He doesn’t even have a TV or radio in the house and has a sign in his front window pointing out that no valuables are kept inside.
‘The burglars ram-raided my front door,’ he tells the Daily Record. ‘There was nothing to take anyway. The only thing worth taking was half a bag of coal, which they left behind.'
Sir Jimmy was away at the time filming a TV show, but a friend discovered the break-in and raised the alarm.
In November Sir Jim got his specs back after he was mugged by a mystery woman.
Police managed to track down the thief – thought to be in her 20s - and returned the pink-tinted glasses back to the TV host.
‘I thought I had seen the last of them,’ said the veteran star. ‘The police have been terrific.’
