Reunited group go all sporty
Tuesday, 15 January 2008
The Spice Girls helped to launch Sainsbury’s Sport Relief 2008 campaign today.
The girls took time out from their 17 nights at London’s O2 Arena to pose for a sporty photo shoot.
The group all wore white T-shirts with the Sport Relief logo and Mel C even added an official Sport Relief sock over her hand.
The campaign encourages the public to raise money to help fight poverty in the UK and Africa by running a sponsored mile.
‘Signing up to do a mile for Sport Relief is such an easy thing to do especially after the post Christmas excesses,’ says Mel C.
Posh, 33, Baby, 31, Sporty, 34, Scary, 32, and Ginger, 35, are confident that most of the nation is fit enough to tackle the challenge.
‘Whether you’re young or old, fit or unfit, most people can do a mile in one way or another and help poor and vulnerable people in the process,’ they insist.
Last year more than 400,000 people took part.
Other celebrity supporters include Take That, Tess Daly and Freddie Flintoff.
If you are interested in helping, you can sign up at www.sportrelief.com and do a mile on Sunday 16 March.
