Leona Lewis, Mika and Take That are heading up the Brit nominations.

They’ll all be competing in 4 categories each at the annual music ceremony to be held on 20 February at Earl’s Court.

X Factor winner Leona, 22, is nominated for Best Female Solo Artist, her album Spirit will be going for Best Album, Bleeding Love is tipped to win Best Single and she’s also up for an award in the Best Breakthrough Act.

She’ll face strong competition from Take That's Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald who will be hoping to pip her in the Best Single and Best Album categories.

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse, 24, is also in the running for Best Single for Valerie, while Kylie Minogue's triumphant comeback has been recognised with nods for Best International Female and Best International Album.

Girls Aloud have finally received a nomination for Best British Group - days after Cheryl Cole hit out at bosses for their lack of recognition.

Sir Paul McCartney, 65, will receive an Outstanding Contribution to Music Award and Adele, 19, has been named the inaugural winner of the Brits Critics Choice Award for an emerging British talent yet to release a debut album.
