Celebrity Big Brother axed for good

Bosses decide to concentrate on original format

Big Brother bosses have decided to axe Celebrity Big Brother permanently.

The Big Brother brand was tainted by last year’s CBB, in which former housemate Jade Goody, 26, bullied Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, 32, causing public uproar.

‘The concept of CBB is great, but it will be virtually impossible to get celebrities to sign up for the show after everything that happened with Jade and Shilpa,’ says a source.

Spin off show Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack has also failed to live up to expectations, with plummeting ratings.

Big Brother bosses say they are concentrating all their efforts into making 2008's Big Brother 9 the best series yet.

‘The summer’s flagship show is what started the brand in the first place, yet it's been neglected,’ a C4 source tells the Daily Star.

‘Now is the time to hatch a plan which will turn it back into the exciting, vibrant show it once was.’
