Lionel Richie: I’m so proud of Nicole

Singer thrilled to become granddad

Lionel Richie has spoken of his joy at becoming a grandfather for the first time after adopted daughter Nicole Richie gave birth to a baby girl on Friday.

The socialite, 26, and boyfriend Joel Madden, 28, welcomed Harlow Winter into the world at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in LA.

Lionel released a statement yesterday in which he gushes over the arrival of his first grandchild.

‘While it may take me a moment to adjust to being called granddad, I am extremely happy and proud of Nicole and Joel,’ says the singer.

‘Harlow Winter Kate Madden, the newest and most beautiful addition to the Richie clan, is a lucky little girl,’ he adds. ‘Nicole and Joel are going to be wonderful parents.’
