David Beckham meets Gordon Brown at No 10

Star confirms Prime Minister wants to contribute towards his football academy

David Beckham slipped into No 10 last night to have a secret meeting with Gordon Brown.

The footy ace – dressed in a smart grey suit and purple tie - spent an hour with the Prime Minister in what was described by a Downing Street spokesman as a ‘genuinely private matter'.

Later, Becks, 32, emerged to face the cameras and confirm the country's leader will be visiting his Greenwhich football school in London this week.

‘He is very interested in doing a lot for my academy and also getting involved in schools around the country,’ he told the paps.

‘He’s a very good man, you know he’s a man that’s looking after our country and he is doing a very good job. I’m very proud to be here tonight.’

Their chat comes on the very same day Gordon, 56, said he had ‘no specific plans’ to meet the star.
