Britney Spears abandons car in rush hour traffic

Singer causes havoc on LA roads - and Dr Phil cancels show

Britney Spears had her car impounded yesterday after she ground to a halt during rush hour traffic.

The singer was on her way to a chemist store in her white Mercedes when she got a flat tyre.

Instead of stopping, she continued to drive for two miles down a busy road without any lights on.

LAPD officers pulled her over and she abandoned the vehicle.

‘Britney Spears’ car was impounded because it was blocking the roadway,’ LAPD spokesman Mike Lopez tells People.com.

Brit, 26, and her assistant were given a lift home by the paparazzi.

Agency X17 claim that the trouble star then handed over her car keys to them asking them to care of it for her.

Meanwhile Dr Phil McGraw has cancelled a special show that was to focus on her condition.

‘Because the Spears situation is too intense at this time,’ Dr Phil McGraw writes on his website.

‘And out of consideration to the family, I have made the decision not to move forward with the taping at this particular time.’
