Chelsy Davy leaves Kenya after being trapped by violence

Leeds student finally escapes African riots

Chelsy Davy

Chelsy Davy has finally left Kenya after being stranded in the country because rioting made it too dangerous to travel.

The 22-year-old was staying on the east coast of Malindi as the country's political crisis deepened after a disputed election.

The Leeds student was forced to extend her Christmas holiday after the violence spread.

Now she’s finally able to return to the UK, she's expected to get straight back to her studies.

‘Chelsy is definitely coming back to Leeds,’ a pal tells The Mail On Sunday.

‘This is going to be a tough term – she’ll have to spend less time at nightclubs and more time working.’
