Alastair Stewart taken straight to emergency room
Tuesday, 8 January 2008
Rod Stewart and wife Penny rushed their son to a Miami hospital on Sunday morning after he suddenly fell ill.
Alastair’s temperature is said to have rocketed to 102F – sparking fears that he had contracted meningitis.
‘Alastair was burning up inside and Rod and Penny were very concerned,’ says a source.
‘They decided not to take any chances and rushed to hospital and were told to take him straight to the children's emergency room.
'Like any parent, they were worried it could be something like meningitis.’
But Penny, 36, reveals that doctors diagnosed Alastair, 2, with a simple upper respiratory and ear infection.
He was prescribed antibiotics and allowed to go home, where he is recovering.
‘Alastair had been suffering with a high fever, so was taken to St Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach,’ she tells the Daily Mirror.
‘He was diagnosed as having an infection. The hospital was very thorough and their quick diagnosis and response now has him comfortable and responding well to the antibiotics at home.’
Rod, 62, and Penny are currently trying for another baby.
