Actor's singing confidence has soared due to new film
Friday, 4 January 2008
Johnny Depp has revealed his dream is to sing with 63-year-old music legend Barry Manilow.
The actor revealed his secret ambition while speaking about his new role in musical film Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street.
‘I don’t think I would have attempted this kind of project with anyone but a director like Tim Burton,’ he says.
‘But if there’s a chance of doing a duet with Barry Manilow now, then I’m in!’
Johnny, 44, originally lacked confidence in his singing, but was praised by Tim - who has directed the Hollywood star in a number of films including Edward Scissorhands and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
‘I always had every confidence in him and he needn’t have worried at all,’ Tim, 49, tells Envelope magazine.
‘His performance was wonderful and exceeded all of my expectations. He is a great actor.’
