Dame Edna Everage feeling ‘cheerful’ after surgery

Comedian Barry Humphries has appendix removed

Dame Edna Everage is said to be feeling ‘cheerful’ after undergoing surgery this week.

The Australian housewife, 73 – the alter ego of comedian Barry Humpries – had an appendectomy at a Sydney hospital.

Dame Edna is expected to be discharged from the clinic today.

Barry's manager says the star is keen to get back on the road.

‘His attitude is very cheerful and he will be off to America in a couple of weeks,’ Harley Medcalf tells the Daily Star.

‘He’s always working and touring and that hasn’t been interrupted by this at all.’
