Prince William joins Royal Air Force

Royal heir wants to gain his wings

Prince William

Prince William is all set to fulfill one of his life-long ambitions – learning to fly.

The 25-year-old will be joining the Royal Air Force for a 4-month placement to earn his wings and will be based in Cranwell, Lincolnshire.

During his stint in the RAF he will follow an intensive pilot's course - which normally takes 4 years.

‘It’s going to be pretty tough,' Sqd Ldr Kevin Marsh tells the Metro.

‘He’ll be flying probably twice a day and he’ll have study to do in the evening as well.’

Wills will be known as Flying Officer William Wales and will start the training on Monday.

Hopefully he won't have to miss girlfriend Kate Middleton's 26th birthday on Wednesday.

'Sorry, my darling, I have to study flight patterns' doesn't sound like much of an excuse.
