Kylie Minogue has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

After her treatment for cancer, the 39-year-old is looking forward to a fantastic 2008.

'I feel deeply touched to be acknowledged by the UK, my adopted home, in this way,' she told BBC News from her family home in Melbourne.

'This last year I have felt so much love and support from everyone as I took greater steps back into the public domain, and it is with absolute gratitude and joy that I say farewell to 2007 and look forward to what the New Year will bring.'

Soul II Soul's Jazzie B - real name Beresford Romeo - is also made an OBE.

Veteran chat show host Michael Parkinson becomes Sir Michael and writer Jacqueline Wilson - who writes the Tracy Beaker novels - has been made a dame.
