Alesha Dixon's brother: We survived a terrifying childhood

Mark Hill says they shared a miserable time

Alesha Dixon is thrilled about taking the Strictly crown but behind her happiness now is a lot of misery.

Not only did husband MC Harvey leave her for another woman, her dad Melvin Dixon split from her mum Beverley when she was 4.

'Alesha would be in tears by the window asking why her daddy had forgotten her. It was really sad,' says her brother Mark Hill, 31.

Life at home in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire for Alesha, 29, and Mark - whose baby brother John was born in 1988 - was tough.

'We often went to bed hungry,' Mark tells the News Of The World. 'We had a s*** childhood.

'Mum was just too wrapped up sorting herself out with her different fellas.

'All three of us kids have different dads.'

Some of their mother's boyfriends were violent, says Mark.

'We'd hear fighting downstairs after we'd gone to bed and next morning there'd always be a new bruise or swollen eye which Mum would lie about, saying she'd fallen or something.'

Sadly Mark and Alesha are now not speaking because he believes she changed when she met her ex-husband.

'She got too big for her boots,' he claims.

'Now I'm not bothered about patching things up. It's too late. We've not spoken in months.'
