Matt Di Angelo has to be happy with 2nd place
Saturday, 22 December 2007
Alesha Dixon is the winner of Strictly Come Dancing.
She and partner Matthew Cutler performed 5 dances, as did ex-EastEnder Matt Di Angelo with Flavia Cacace.
Alesha, 29, was the bookies' favourite but had convinced herself that the public tend to vote for male celebrities.
She also thought she might not be fit enough to compete.
'On Thursday I thought I had done my back in. It went into spasm and I really thought God was against me,' she tells The Sun.
'I was lying on the floor, crying in pain and I started to have a panic attack - but I got through it.'
The final should have had three couples competing against each other but Kelly Brook quit after the death of her father.
Judge Len Goodman told the audience: 'I always said the best girl contestant was Jill Halfpenny [2004 winner]. Henceforth, it’s Alesha Dixon.'
