Rhydian Roberts: It's obviously a technical fault

X Factor runner-up insists he’s not bitter about losing to Leon Jackson

Rhydian Roberts has finally broken his silence on the X Factor vote row.

Fans of the Welsh singer, 24, claim they had difficulty voting for him in Saturday’s final; with over 2,000 people complaining to Ofcom.

But Rhyd doesn’t think the show was rigged.

‘How I see it is, it's obviously a technical fault on the night, and it might have affected all three competitors,’ he says.

‘I can't really complain.'

But Rhydian admits he was devastated when he lost out to Leon Jackson, 18.

‘I was really disappointed,’ he tells Real Radio Wales' breakfast show. ‘I actually shed a tear.’

Rhydian insists he bears no grudge against Leon.

‘He's a talented boy and has his niche with swing music,’ he says. ‘I wish him the best of luck.

‘It's Leon's week and he should be celebrating and I don't want people coming up to me saying, “You were robbed”, although it's nice. I didn't want to pull focus.’

Rhydian also denied claims that he snubbed the X Factor after-show party because of the voting row. He says he was ‘absolutely drained’.

‘All I can say is I want to put that all behind me now - the X Factor,’ he says. ‘My life is going to go on and I fully intend to record an album so watch this space and thanks so much to everybody.’

Rhydian is due to go on a two-week holiday to Mexico with his family on 27 December.
