Mitch Winehouse speaks out after singer is ordered to pay hubby’s legal fees

Amy Winehouse’s dad Mitch is not happy about his daughter's friendship with Pete Doherty, 28.

‘I do worry about her being around people like him,’ he admits.

’He's a scumbag. I flipped when I saw him sitting with Amy backstage at her Brixton gig. That night I went crazy. My wife thought I was going to have a heart attack. I was apoplectic.’

Mitch says Amy, 24, is depressed about husband Blake Fielder-Civil being in prison and full of self-hate.

‘It's clear there are issues of self-image, self-loathing.

‘We were recently looking at photos of her five years ago, when she was curvy, and she said, “I look really happy there”.

'I said, “Aren't you happy now, darling?” And she said, “I've been happier”.'

The singer has just learned that she will have to pay husband Blake's legal fees – which could come to a staggering £500,000 - after his claim for legal aid fell flat.

'Amy is going to pay for his legal team,' Mitch tells Grazia, 'and that will be a lot of money.'
