Billie Piper to have police escort for wedding

Guards will ensure ceremony is kept intimate

Billie Piper is to have a police escort for her wedding.

The actress, 25, is getting hitched to Laurence Fox, 29, in an intimate church service in Sussex on New Year's Eve.

And she's hoping to keep gate crashers out of the party afterwards at the Cowdray Park Estate with the help of the boys in blue.

But Billie's request has offended locals, who think she should cough up for her own guards.

'If the wedding is deemed a big enough security risk, it could be made a public order issue,' a source tells the Daily Star. 'That would mean local police having to provide officers at the cost of the taxpayer.

'This has caused a bit of resentment in the town.'

A police spokesman confirmed that officers will be posted to protect the blushing bride.

'There is a celebrity wedding and there will be two officers on duty,' he says. 'Further discussions are taking place.'

Billie has also upset groom Laurence's relatives but banning children from the service.

'The candlelit ceremony wlll be taking place in the afternoon, then we have been told to expect an all-night party,' a source tells the Mail On Sunday.

'They obviously don't want kids running around the church and wreaking havoc but the whole thing has gone down like a lead balloon.'
