Katie Holmes defies Tom Cruise over plans to relaunch her career

Katie clashes with her husband because she wants to dance out of his shadow

Katie Holmes has been locked in bitter rows with husband Tom Cruise over her plans to appear in the next series of Dancing With The Stars.

Superstar husband Tom loathes reality TV and is threatening to forbid Katie from competing.

Now, thanks to her friendship with Victoria Beckham, Katie has met up with Mel B, who was a recent runner-up on the series. And Mel, 32, has arranged for Katie to meet with two producers of the show.

‘Tom’s dead against Katie going on,’ says an insider. ‘But Mel told her: “Go for it!”

‘Katie’s sick and tired of Tom micro-managing her career and she’s hired a private dance instructor.’

Tom, 45, and Katie, 29, have also been rowing over the way Victoria, 33, has changed Katie’s image.

The insider says: ‘Before Victoria came along, Katie had no sense of fashion and she was lacking self-confidence.

‘Victoria has helped Katie come into her own. But Tom detests Katie’s fierce new bob haircut.'
