Gavin Henson will appear at Cardiff magistrates on 14 January to face charges of 'offences contrary to Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986' and could face a maximum £5,000 fine.
Charlotte Church's fella, 25, is alleged to have sworn and spat at passengers on the journey from London to Cardiff.
But Swansea Ospreys, the sportsman's rugby club, has issued a statement denying allegations he was abusive to train passengers last week.
‘Gavin vehemently denies the charge and the Ospreys are fully in support of him in this matter,’ a spokesperson tells the Associated Press.
‘The club has spent a great deal of time over the past week speaking with Gavin and related parties surrounding the events that occurred on Sunday 2 December.
'It is our judgment that Gavin's personal conduct itself was not such as to warrant direct disciplinary action by the Ospreys.’
Despite denying the allegations, the spokesman adds that Gavin and the club apologise to passengers.
Gavin's friends - Jamie Griffiths, 26, David Norman, 33, both of Bridgend, and Matthew Williams, 25, of Wick - face the same charges.
British Transport Police say: ‘Four men are to be prosecuted for public order offences following a disturbance on the 19.37 First Great Western London Paddington to Cardiff train on the evening of Sunday 2 December.'
