Dinner lady from Birmingham surprise semi-finalist to be going home

Niki, Leon, Rhydian and Same Difference battled it out in The X Factor semi-finals tonight.

Everyone thought brother and sister act Sean, 21, and Sarah, 18, were going home to Portsmouth but it was dinner lady Niki Evans who was booted off.

She thanked Louis Walsh for being 'a diamond' to her before singing One Moment in Time as her final performance.

Birmingham dinner lady Niki, 34, applied for The X Factor after finding an application form for the show in her deceased dad’s belongings.

She didn't reach the final but she reached the last 4 from 150,000 original applicants and did him proud.

Same Difference sang Never Had A Dream Come True but it certainly has this time.
