Spice Girls world tour threatened by virus

Band at risk after Geri's daughter's diagnosed with chicken pox

Geri Halliwell

The Spice Girls are said to be frantic with worry because Geri Halliwell’s baby daughter has been diagnosed with chicken pox.

The varicella zoster virus is easily transmitted and if the band haven't already had the common childhood ailment or been immunised, they are at risk of infection.

Symptoms include blisters, fever, sore throat and body aches. The illness is not usually severe, but the risk of hospitalization and death is increased among adults.

‘Chicken pox is very contagious and when Geri noticed the spots on Bluebell’s arm she panicked and warned the rest of the girls,’ reveals a source.

'And it’s not only them who are at risk. Bluebell has played a lot with Victoria’s sons Cruz and Romeo.’

The 18-month-old tot is now said to be in the care of Geri’s family who are desperate to avoid risking further infection.

‘Mel B’s baby Angel could also get the bug, too,' the source tells The Sun. 'She is only 8 months old so could really hit for six.’

The Spice Girls open their world tour in Vancouver this Sunday and go on to perform in San Hose, LA and Las Vegas.
