Teacher spills beans on diva's school days

Amy Winehouse's former headmistress Sylvia Young insists the troubled diva was not kicked out of her stage school.

'I want to make it absolutely clear that she was not expelled,' she says.

But the 24-year-old chanteuse was always a bit of a handful.

'She didn't wear the school uniform correctly. She chewed gum in lessons. She wore a silver nose-ring,' Sylvia tells the Daily Mail.

'She could be disruptive in class, too.'

Amy dreamed of notoriety from a young age, despite telling German magazine Stern that she never asked to become a household name.

'I have this dream to be very famous,' wrote 13-year-old Amy in her application essay to the Sylvia Young Theatre School.

Other celebrity ex-pupils of the academy include Emma Bunton, Billie Piper and Leona Lewis.
