SEE VIDEO Baby bats need Gemma Atkinson's help

I'm A Celeb star says she loves furry creatures

Gemma Atkinson

I'm A Celeb contestant Gemma Atkinson, 23, adores animals.

She kept a pet rabbit as a kid and says she's dying to get a dog when she leaves the jungle.

But before the ex-Hollyoaks star starts looking at labrador puppies, she should stop off in Australia to vist the Tolga Bat Hospital.

The place is full of tiny orphan pups who have to be saved because their mums have been attacked by poisonous ticks.

Flies lay eggs on the helpless little things and unless they're rescued, maggots start eating the babies alive.

'We walk around the bat colony in the Bush every day and you can hear the young bats crying for their mothers,' rescue centre boss Jenn Maclean tells the Daily Mail.

Gem, you've got to go and see the cuties wrapped up in their little blankets. The publicity would do them a power of good.
