Britney Spears to be cast as Virgin Mary

Singer to star in new nativity film

Britney Spears is reportedly being lined-up to star as the Virgin Mary in a new film.

French producer Phillippe Rebboah is bringing Sweet Baby Jesus - an interpretation of the nativity story to the big screen - and wants the singer, 26, on board.

‘I had to convince my partners because they were like: “Oh no, Britney?”’ he says, reports the Daily Star. ‘But I thought it was brilliant.

‘Mary will go into labour in Bethlehem amid rumours that the baby will be the second coming. Mary was a celebrity and people will see the parallels this way.’

Sweet Baby Jesus follows the story of a pregnant 19-year-old who is not sure who has fathered her child.

Britney is currently reading the script - and if she agrees, filming will begin in March next year.
