Veteran comedian jokes about emergency hernia surgery
Wednesday, 2 January 2008
Veteran comedian Ken Dodd is recovering in hospital after being rushed to a Liverpool Royal Hospital with severe stomach pains at the weekend.
Ken had an emergency hernia operation.
‘The surgeon found my chuckle muscle and said it's in very good condition,’ he jokes.
Doctors are surprised at how quickly the 80-year-old has perked up.
‘He's a smashing guy, as funny as you'd expect, and he just can't wait to get back to work,’ a hospital spokesman tells the Daily Mirror.
Ken is now keen to reschedule the shows he's had to miss.
'Ken had to have a little procedure,’ says his spokesman. ‘It is nothing serious and he is very sorry to disappoint the people who were due to see him.'
