Jennifer Saunders: Lynne Franks was inspiration for Ab Fab

Comedian says she feels ‘protective’ of I’m A Celeb star

Jennifer Saunders has revealed that Lynne Franks was the inspiration for her character Edina in TV show Absolutely Fabulous.

Fashion victim Edina was a ‘new age’ PR guru, just like the 59-year-old.

As a result, comedian Jennifer, 49, says she feels ‘protective’ of the I’m A Celeb star when she watches her shenanigans in the jungle.

‘There’s a lot of her in Eddie,’ she says. ‘She’s an amazing woman really and I feel rather protective towards her.

‘When I first knew her, I had just never met anyone like it – she was like a whirlwind and very talented. She was one of the first PR types to really understand the business and the idea of a celebrity. She’s great.’

And Jennifer remembers that Lynne has always had a 'spiritual' side.

‘I had a meeting with her and when I arrived she said, “I’ve been chanting for a parking space for you, darling”,' she tells the Daily Express.

Meanwhile, Lynne and rival Janice Dickinson, 52, managed to win 9 meals out of 10 in the latest Bushtucker Trial on I’m A Celeb.

The pair had to put creepy crawlies in their mouth for 30 seconds at a time to win stars.
