Britney Spears goes home from hospital

Singer leaves with TV therapist through underground tunnel

Britney Spears has been released from Cedars-Sinai hospital and spent Saturday morning with her dad Jamie.

She left the medical centre through an underground tunnel and was accompanied by American TV therapist Dr Phil McGraw, who it's believed was sent to see the singer by her worried parents.

'My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention,' the celebrity shrink said in a statement.

'She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car.'

Jamie and Lynne Spears are expected to appear on Dr Phil's US TV show, which will be recorded tomorrow and aired on Tuesday, reports TMZ, but it's unclear as to whether Britney will also participate.

Many believe that the mum-of-two is suffering from a serious mental condition - possibly a bipolar disorder (a manic depressive illness) and that she is now 'in the red zone'.

Britney's mum Lynne, at home in Kentwood, Louisiana, has asked everyone to pray for her daughter.

The 26-year-old was committed on Friday morning and could have been held up to 72 hours. Patients can be released sooner than this if doctors decide they are no longer a threat to themselves.
