Babyshambles frontman approached about stage show
Thursday, 29 November 2007
Pete Doherty is all set to write a musical - and wants Libertines bandmate Carl Barat to give him a hand.
The Babyshambles frontman last worked with the singer when they covered a Beatles track for Radio 2 in June, but now the pair are considering co-operating on a stage show.
‘I haven’t spoken to Pete since we did Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,’ says Carl.
‘But his manager phoned me up recently and said he wanted me to write a musical with Pete. Pete was approached, so he wanted to see if I could get involved.
'It wouldn’t be a Libertines musical – it’d probably be a comedy.’
But Carl says that while he hasn't ruled out reuniting with the 28-year-old, he’s currently tied up in the recording studio.
‘I’m busy with the album right now,’ he tells NME.
‘Maybe we’ll do something together, I don’t really know. I’m trying not to overshadow this album. Could we get together at a summer festival? Ha ha, maybe, although I wouldn’t know about it until five minutes before it happened.'
