Mike Tindall: I'd love the Queen's granddaughter even if she worked in Tesco

Rugby player is devoted to Zara Phillips

Mike Tindall admits he's bonkers about Zara Phillips, the Queen's granddaughter.

The pair live together with their 3 dogs on Princess Anne's Gloucestershire estate and couldn't be happier.

'I've never been in love before,' Mike, 29, tells the Sunday Mirror. 'But Zara is the love of my life. No doubt. We want children but we haven't set a date.'

Mike is prepared to look after the kids when they arrive so that Zara, 26, can continue riding.

'I'd quite happily not work, learn to cook and stay at home,' he says. 'As a champion showjumper, Zara can go on for longer than I can.'

The burly sportsman believe it was fate that he and Zara met in a Sydney bar during the semi-final of the 2003 Rugby World Cup. A pal did a bit o matchmaking and told Mike to text her.

'It wasn't love at first sight,' he admits, 'but she is a stunning woman.'

Like her mum, the glamorous blonde is pretty feisty - and that's just the way Mike likes it.

'I wouldn't want a doormat,' he says. 'What man would?

'I'd love Zara if she worked behind a check-out at Tesco. She just happens to be Princess Anne's daughter.'
