Howard Donald: Dodgy backflip nearly killed me

Take That star reveals he did 2 shows with collapsed lung

Monday, 19 November 2007

Howard Donald is petrified about performing acrobatics again on stage because a backflip-gone-wrong almost killed him.

The singer, 39, was hospitalised last month and is feeling very cautious as he rejoins the band on tour.

‘We’ve had to rechoreograph the show so they can get me back into it,’ says Howard. ‘I’m taking it slowly. I want to give my body a chance to recover. I’m definitely not trying backflips.’

Brave Howard reveals that after injuring himself, he completed 2 shows before he realised his lung had collapsed.

‘I did Milan and Bologna and didn’t realise anything was seriously wrong,’ he tells The Sun.

‘It was only when I got on the plane to Vienna that I noticed I was so out of breath. I said, “I’ve got to go to hospital for an X-ray”. I was terrified. They took one look at me and rushed me into a bed.’
