Simon Cowell: I have had Botox but I'm not gay

X Factor boss says he hates shopping

Simon Cowell says rumours he's gay are rubbish.

If people think he moves in 'an effeminate' graceful way, it's simply because his mum is a graceful former dancer.

'It's probably my mother's influence,' he says. (He'd be a brilliant celebrity contestant for Strictly Come Dancing!)

The 48-year-old, who hates shopping but likes to look good, insists there'd be no reason for him to disguise his sexuality.

'If I was, why hide it?' he tells the Daily Mail, 'It's not as if the music business would be an odd place for a gay man to work.

'Vain? Yeah, I am. But to be honest with you, I can't think of one person who is on TV who isn't vain. It's the nature of the beast.'

What about Louis Walsh's accusation that he's had pectoral implants?

'No, absolutely not. I have not had cosmetic surgery," he smiles. 'I've had Botox, but not in an obsessive way. Then again, every guy I know who works in the City has had it now.'
