Cheryl Cole: I used to be a chav

Girls Aloud star's proud of her roots

Cheryl Cole has admitted that she used to be like Vicky Pollard – and loved nothing better than slobbing out in front of the TV.

‘When I was younger I was a proper chav,’ the Girls Aloud star reveals.

‘I used to love tracksuits. I’d be like, “Yeah, I got a new trackie”.’

But the 24-year-old realises she's now a role model and says she wants to help teenagers make something of their lives.

‘I'm proud I grew up on a council estate and made good of myself,' she says.

'I get letters from young girls who say they are inspired by me. I'm glad I'm encouraging them.’
