X Factor’s Alisha Bennett’s mum was in prison

Sharon Bennett served sentence when singer was in her teens

X Factor star Alisha Bennett has spoken for the first time about how her mum served a prison sentence when she was still a teenager.

The singer, 23, was just 13 when mum Sharon was put inside for 3 years after being found guilty of credit card fraud. But now they are once again a tight-knit family.

‘It was a terrible time for me and my mum but now we’ve put it behind us,’ Alisha tells the Sun.

‘Mum’s my biggest fan and we’re so close that she’s like my big sister.’

Because Alisha's dad is not in her life, she stayed with her mum’s best friend and her aunt and uncle during the time her mum spent in jail.
