Lily Allen to be next Doctor Who assistant

BBC bosses want her to replace Catherine Tate

Lily Allen

Lily Allen is reportedly being lined up as Doctor Who’s next assistant.

Producers are said to want the Smile singer, 22, to help bring in a younger audience.

Lily was recently handed her own BBC3 chatshow, and it’s thought that the move was a sweetener to get her on board the sci-fi series.

‘Lily is multi-talented,’ says a show insider. ‘She comes from more of a TV background than a musical one.

'After the chat show we hope she’ll take over from Catherine Tate as Dr Who’s assistant. We’ve talked to her and she was excited by the idea.'

It’s thought that Beeb bosses hope Lily will be able to emulate the success of Billie Piper, 25, who also starred alongside the Time Lord David Tennant, 36.

‘Billie used Dr Who for her transition from music to acting,’ the insider tells the Sun. ‘We think Lily can emulate that.

'The great thing about the show is it’s good fun but still a cool thing to be involved with.'
