Actors join the picket lines to protest about low pay

America Ferrera

Ugly Betty scriptwriters have joined the screenwriters' strike in America after talks to boost pay were left unresolved.

Actors America Ferrera, Ashley Jensen and Eric Mabius have been snapped holding billboards and campaigning outside the show's studios to show their support.

Pickets were set up in LA and New York after The Writers Guild Of America asked 12,000 members to stop working.

And now dozens of US TV shows – including Lost and 24 - are said to have halted production.

Desperate Housewives will run out of scripts on Wednesday.

'I have a whole crew that will have a terrible holiday season because there's no resolution,' Eva Longoria told reporters.

'I care about people losing their homes.'
