Avril Lavigne's shock win at MTV Awards

Singer wins Solo Artist 2007 and Most Addictive Track

Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne was the biggest winner of the MTV European Awards last night – surprising critics by bagging 2 awards.

The rock star was up against Rihanna, Nelly Futado, Beyoncé and Amy Winehouse but managed to clinch the award for Most Addictive Track and Solo Artist 2007.

The 23-year-old was chuffed to bits with her unexpected prize – which was awarded by Lewis Hamilton – and performed her new single Hot to the excited crowds in Munich.

Other winners included Nelly Futado, who won Album Of The Year. Rihanna, who scooped Ultimate Urban act and Amy Winehouse who won Artists' Choice.
