Heather Mills has revealed she contemplated suicide in the wake of the breakdown of her marriage to Sir Paul McCartney.
She launched into a bitter and emotional attack on the British tabloid press on GMTV this morning, insisting that there's a hate campaign against her which is 'driving her insane'.
‘I considered killing myself because I thought if I am dead, she [daughter Beatrice, 2] can be safe with her father,’ Heather, 39, told Fiona Phillips.
With her voice breaking, the mum-of-one showed the camera her cuttings book of articles calling her a golddigger and 'Mucca', because of her glamour-modelling past.
Heather says speculation about the likely amount of her divorce settlement are without any basis in fact.
‘These figures are made up, £100m, £50m, £20m,' she raged. 'How do you know if I even want any money? I am £1.5m in debt in lawyers' fees. That's as much as I can say or I go to jail, for telling the truth.
‘I'm living in a prison and I'll have to fight back or I'll go insane.'
Heather hopes to change the law on reporting on such personal matters.
