Prince Harry has been questioned after two rare birds were shot dead on the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
The pair of hen harriers are believed to have been gunned down on Wednesday in the same area that Harry was reportedly hunting with a pal.
‘One of our wardens and two members of the public saw two harriers shot and killed,’ a spokesman for wildlife group Natural England reveals.
‘They saw the birds in the air, heard the shots and watched them fall. It wasn’t possible to see who was responsible.’
Royal officials have defended Harry and his mate, saying they know nothing about the incident.
‘Because Prince Harry and a friend were both in the area at the time, the police have been in contact with them and asked them if they have any information that could help,’ a spokesman tells The Sun.
‘Unfortunately, they had no knowledge of the alleged incident.’
