Russell Watson's recovery will be a long haul

Tenor's mouth and lips were sliced to remove brain tumour

Russell Watson

Russell Watson has survived brain surgery for the second time but surgeons had to cut through his mouth and lips during the operation.

The 40-year-old was rushed to Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, Cheshire on Thursday after it was discovered a tumour he'd had removed last year had regrown.

In 2006, surgeons accessed a cricket-ball-sized growth through his nose but this time it wasn't possible.

‘They could not follow the same route as before because there was too much scar tissue,’ Russell's manager tells the Daily Mirror.

‘The mouth is always risky especially if your career is singing. This is why we know his recovery will be a long haul this time.’

But Russell is said to be in a stable condition and was visited by his children Rebecca, 12, and Hannah, 6, after making a heart felt plea to see them on Friday.

Get well soon, Russ.
