Joan Pethers says EastEnders star is desperate for kids

Letitia Dean's mother-in-law has spoken out about the breakdown of the ex-EastEnder's marriage – saying it collapsed because she was desperate to have a baby.

Now starring in Strictly Come Dancing, Letitia's 5-year marriage to media boss Jason Pethers came to an end last week.

‘They both wanted children but Jason wanted to wait until he could afford it,’ says Joan Pethers.

‘She had a lot more money than him. I think, like any man, he wanted to look after his wife.’

But Joan insists Letitia and Jason, 39, will work it out and believes they'll reconcile.

‘They were happy,’ she tells the Daily Mirror. ‘It was no dramatic thing - they haven't found someone else.

'I guess they just fell out of love for the time being. I would be very surprised if they did not get back together as they love each other so much.’

At 39, Letitia felt her chance at motherhood was slipping.

‘As you get older you don't know how many eggs you have left in your basket, so you should never take it for granted pregnancy will happen,’ she’s said in the past.

A Strictly Come Dancing insider says that the blonde actress is finding it difficult being back in the public eye so soon after the break-up.

‘She tries to make a lot of jokes to try and cover up how vulnerable she is feeling. But it's all a front.’
