Actress makes inappropriate quip on chat show
Thursday, 25 October 2007
Halle Berry has apologised after making an anti-Semitic joke on a US talk show.
The Oscar-winning actress was flicking through photos of herself with chat show host Jay Leno and pointed to a distorted image which showed her with an inflated nose.
'"Here's where I look like my Jewish cousin!" she announced,' reveals an audience member.
'No one laughed and Jay nervously replied, "I'm glad you said that and not me."'
After the recording, Halle, 41, quickly realised she'd made an inappropriate comment and asked Jay to take it out of the transmitted interview.
‘I so didn't mean to offend anybody,’ she tells the NY Post.
‘Before the show we were going through pictures to see which ones looked silly, and one of my Jewish friends said of the big-nose picture, "That could be your Jewish cousin!" And I guess it was fresh in my mind, and it just came out of my mouth.
'But I didn't mean to offend anybody. I didn't. I didn't mean any harm.’
