Comedian-turned-actor Eddie Izzard in now mates with Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
His first US TV series The Riches is a hit in the States and is also winning UK fans on Virgin 1.
It’s clear that Eddie, 45, is a bona fide Hollywood star. And he’s proud of it because, as he tells Now: ‘It’s been a f*** of a long time coming.'
So how have Americans reacted to his cross-dressing?
'At first people said: "So, you do the drag thing?"' says Eddie. 'I’ve had to explain: "No, I happen to be a transvestite. I used to do stand-up comedy in trousers and then I started wearing a skirt.
'Maybe in 100 years there will be a lot more transgender people so no one will give a monkey’s. There are quite a few straight transvestites. A lot of wives have come up to me and said: "My husband wears my clothes."'
