Actor reveals his desire to explore his dark side

Jake Gyllenhaal says that he's intrigued by his inner aggression – and he often wonders what he’d be like in combat.
The actor, who played a marine on active duty in the Middle East in 2005 movie Jarhead, says he’d love to test himself physically to prove his valor.
‘Aggression is a part of me,' Jake tells the Sunday Telegraph.
'I shaved my head for Jarhead and both my parents were, like, f***! I came back from the boot camp and they were terrified.'
‘Part of me would like to know what I would be like in battle. Have my courage tested. Would I be an altruist or a coward? Would I run away or engage? The engaging is what I would want of myself.’
The 26-year-old once got so absorbed in the midst of a play fight with co-star Brian Geraghty that he couldn’t stop punching him.
‘Something just happened and I just started hitting Brian,’ he said at the time.
Jake shot to fame as a disturbed adolescent in Donny Darko and also recently co-starred with Robert Downey Jr in serial killer film Zodiac.
'He's nice all right,' says Robert, 'but he's also wet, dark and wild.'
