He finds it hard to see people get knocked back on The X Factor
Saturday, 10 November 2007
Acting legend Sir Michael Caine is a secret X Factor addict – but he doesn’t like the way Simon Cowell treats the hopefuls.
Although the Alfie star, 74, is pals with the music mogul, 48, he feels the pain of the contestants who have their dreams dashed.
‘I always tell my wife, don’t tell anyone I watch this, but it fascinates me because I’ve done so many auditions and been knocked back,’ Sir Michael tells the Observer Music Monthly.
‘To watch people doing it, I feel so sorry for them. I get really p***ed off with Simon [Cowell]. I know Simon quite well; he’s a very nice guy actually. But he’s so tough with them.’
