Eva Mendes is so comfortable without clothes, she enjoys doing the housework without a stitch on.

‘I love being naked,’ she says.

‘I do everything in the nude, even the gardening. We're Cuban, and it's a hot island. Why not go nude?’

But while Eva feels at ease with her body, she was anxious about shooting a raunchy sex scene with Joaquin Phoenix for new movie We Own The Night.

‘It's not a natural thing on camera,’ she says, ‘so it's always going to be a little awkward.

‘That morning I was so nervous that the director was like, “Why don't you put a little vodka in your orange juice?” So I did. It took the edge off.’

The kinky opening scene of the movie is so raunchy, Eva, 33, banned her mum from watching it.

‘She wouldn't live through that first scene - she'd have a heart attack,' Eva tells Maxim. 'The poor lady would keel over.’

We Own The Night is released on the 14 December.
