Actress transforms into witch for Stardust

Michelle Pfeiffer undergoes a shocking transformation for her new film Stardust – but it took a whopping 6 hours to make her ugly.

The stunning actress - who plays a frail old witch in the movie - was forced to endure almost a full day in the make-up department before she could even step foot on set.

‘It started out at 6 hours,’ Michelle reveals, ‘but we got it down to about 4 and a half.

‘It’s really uncomfortable as you’re completely encased in rubber – it’s hot, itchy and burns. What I didn’t realise is that every inch of that rubber is glued to your skin.’

But despite her discomfort, the 49-year-old loved playing the foul old hag.

‘I wanted to poke fun at the degree to which women will go in order to have eternal youth,’ she tells the News Of The World.

‘There’s an epidemic of people losing sight of what looks good and getting so much plastic surgery that their looks become distorted.'

Stardust hits the cinemas on 19 October.
