Mel C has hit back at rivals Westlife after they accused the girls of chickening out of a chart battle.
The outspoken singer set the record straight in a Radio 1 interview and laughed off rumours the Spices deliberately changed their album release date from 5 to 12 November to avoid clashing with the boys.
‘To be honest with you, we aren’t in competition with anyone,’ Mel told Scott Mills.
‘If you think about what we achieved in the 90s – you know, we aren’t interested in any battles. We’ve just sold out 17 nights at the 02 Arena. We’ve got nothing to prove!’
But Westlife insist the Spice Girls are ‘running scared’ and have even launched a personal attack on Mel, 33, claiming every time she talks, she says something nasty.
