Michelle Ryan: I want to be the next Angelina Jolie

Going from Walford to Hollywood has given her confidence

Michelle Ryan has revealed that she's ready to take Angelina Jolie's action-girl crown.

It's only been two years since the British actress left EastEnders, where she played Zoe Slater for five years. Now she's starring as part-robot heroine Jaime Sommers in the hit US show Bionic Woman.

'When I watch Angelina in Tomb Raider, I feel good about myself,' says Michelle. 'I want to be like that.'

The 23-year-old has become a star on the NBC hit show after work and personal pressures put her confidence at an all-time low back in 2002.

'That was a low point – the lowest, in fact,' she says

Now the actress says her high-flying scenes have given her the boost she needs.

'I've done so many incredible action sequences,' she smiles. 'It gives me a real buzz when I'm flying around in a harness and spinning kicks.'
