Babyshambles singer stuns locals in village pub
Monday, 8 October 2007
Pete Doherty has played his first gig since leaving rehab.
While Babyshambles are currently riding high at No 5 in the album charts with Shotter’s Nation, it was the low-key Sun Inn in Marlborough, Wiltshire, that drew Pete on Saturday night, leaving regulars and locals gobsmacked.
'It was a normal Saturday night until Pete rocked up,' says an onlooker.
'As soon as word got out, the place was packed and people were begging him to sing. It was a really great atmosphere.'
Pete, who left Wiltshire's Clouds clinic on Thursday, is currently staying in a nearby cottage to keep clear of London and his drug-addled past.
So Saturday night was full of legal pleasures.
'He was asking for pints of Guinness between tracks and kissed all the girls who asked for [a kiss],' a source tells The Sun.
